Current Mission Projects

Missions are very important to the Lewisburg United Methodist Church family.  Throughout the year, the church takes part in a wide variety of mission projects. Examples of some mission ministries include collecting school supplies for children in need, purchasing and wrapping Christmas gifts for families in need, visiting homebound persons, preparing and delivering meals, making home repairs, and collecting funds to help areas of need.

The church's Missions Ministry Team does a wonderful job keeping missions in the forefront of all of our minds.  The team presents new projects for the church family to take part in on a regular basis.  Check this page often to find out what mission projects the mission team sponsors from month to month!

The church's current mission projects include:

Celebration of Mission Event
The 2012 Celebration of Mission Event (C.O.M.E.) will be held on April 28, 2012 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in White Sulphur Springs. In 2011, the churches, charges and parishes of our district (Greenbrier) raised over $28,000 (making us first among nine districts!) for the West Virginia mission projects, church and community workers, and Volunteers In Mission.  This year, the Greenbrier District will be collecting items and monies for the Heart and Hand House of Philippi and the Richwood/Craigsville/Webster Cooperative Parish (RCW).  Save the date and plan on taking part in the event---there will be an auction, food and fellowship!

Heifer Project

The Mission Team is asking the congregation to help with the Heifer Project once again. LUMC is going to help Noah fill cardboard arks with money to help buy animals for families in the US and around the world.  Arks and calendars are available at the entrances to the church and sanctuary.  The calendar will ask questions each day while helping your family learn about animals, mission and farming around the world. You'll answer questions daily and put in amounts of money based on your answers.  This is a really fun mission project for all ages.  Return your arks full of donations to the church (or write a check and write 'Heifer Project' on the memo line).
